Sourdeval is a cheerful little town, with a market every Tuesday, where you can find superb local cheeses, ciders and more. There is also a livestock market attached, which is always interesting even if you don’t want to buy a cow yourself! The shops, supermarkets and restaurants make life easy and pleasant. Normandy has masses of lovely, unspoiled countryside and this area is ideal for walkers, horse riding, cyclists and fishermen. Golf courses are within easy reach.
The property is situated in the southwest of Normandy, near the border between Manche and Calvados. A day trip to the sandy beach at Granville is perfect on a warm day, but there are many more attractions besides. Mont St Michel, the Bayeux tapestry, the D-Day landing beaches and the Lac de Dathée are just a few. The nearest ferry port is at Caen (80 minutes) but Cherbourg is a good alternative and so is St. Malo. From the nearby town of Vire you can take the fast train to Paris. Proximity to the UK makes travel for extended weekends possible.
